Fossil Amber or fossilised amber resin comes from pre-historic tree resin millions of years ago.

Fossil Amber is prized for its plant and insect inclusions. Often viewed under a microsope to see the full beauty and potential of trapped organic matter from the early plant and insect fossil record.

Copal is younger amber, semi fossilised. sometimes thousands of years old. Simulated Amber often contains spangle inclusions. These are not classified as fossil amber but are nevertheless inexpensive and beautiful alternatives to genuine fossil amber.

Most of the worlds genuine Fossil Amber is between 30-90 million years old. Most well known amber is Baltic Fossil Amber, Northern Europe Fossil Amber, Dominincan Fossil Amber. There are many other areas of the world where Fossil Amber is washed up along the shoreline, including the East coast of England.
